Downtown!!!

It's weekend - Saturday and no work for today~!=) So, Swee Hun and I planned to go Downtown (A town- Hsinchu resident used to shop and walk around the place, there got alots of place to shop and have a shopping mall - SOGO)

When reached downtown, my first task is hunt for food as I haven't eat for my breakfast and lunch. My brunch is Hsinchu famous food ---> rice vermicelli with meatball 米粉贡丸!

After had my brunch, we walked around the town and took some pictures. I refer the tour guide book to walk around and the first place we found is famous pao in Hsinchu and it's recommend by tourists ----->>>黑猫包. This also is recommend by Jaces, my junior in AIESEC that went to internship in Taiwan and she said that I must find it and taste it!

I found it very long time and went wrong many places and keep asking around where to get the way for it. It's thirsty and tired as the weather here is hotter and just like Malaysia weather. @@

 But after taste it all tiredness and sweat are worth for me to walked so far and it's satisfied! XD

While eating the Pao, we walked to find another famous place Hsinchu --- Hsinchu City Video Museum ( 新竹市文化局影像博物館 ) and we took few pictures by using the background that set up there.=)

After that we took bus (一号巴士) to the Park Road (公园路）and we get off from bus and walked to another famous place which is Hsinchu City Glasses Craft Museum （新竹市玻璃工艺博物）and the entrance ticket it's cost $10NT (student price, you have to show your student card). Inside there is alots of beautiful glasses but too bad we can't take any pictures T_T

Had watched the beautiful glasses then we decided to walked back to our house, GuangFu Road (光复路, nearby Chiao Tung University ). While walking back there, we saw quite a nice view from time to time....=)

It's took us more around one and half hour to back to Trainee House~@@ Seriously really challenge and there is first time we walked so long time~!=P

But it's a great moment and looking forward the next coming~~~~=DDD


After that we went back to Trainee House and met another 2 trainee from Singapore - Chanel and Malaysia - Boa (same LC with me) and Iris (reception manager) & Jacky. We had some chit chat and decided to go around by tomorrow before our project start.


At that night had a farewell party for 2 trainees (Stan & Vincent) that going to end their internship. We had a great night as we played mafia game and chit chat with each others.

Walk Walk Session!

Today I didn't go work as there is no people have free time bring me go there and I still new and not really know the road to the factory. AIESECer in Chiao Tung Local Committee (CTLC) are busying move their stuffs to new hostel. They have the rule and regulation that 1st year students have to move to another building which consist 2nd, 3rd and 4th years students.

In Chiao Tung University, gals students in this university is very less and can fixed into just one building. An AIESECer(Ting Ting) told me that all the gals sure can stay in hostel but guys is not confirm cause not enough hostel for all the students stay.

Around 10am, Ting Ting (An AIESECer) brought me to the Trainee House and it's took around 10 minutes to reach there. It's located down stair of the University (CTLC is located at the uphills) . Ting Ting also brought a fan there as the house air-conditioner is spoil and need to wait the owner have time come here to repair.

While I'd waiting Jacky came here to bring me to apply for Taiwan local phone number, I went out to get my brunch before that. I went out to hunt for some food and walked around 5 minutes then saw a 24 hours store (Hi-Life) and at there get some food!=) After ate my brunch, I went back to Trainee House as I don't know when Jacky will come as I don't have any phone to contact. I reached house and then online to see is it Jacky got leave any message that he is coming. 

After back to the house, another trainee , Jing Ning, same project with me which currently work in Guo Feng Rice Vermicelli (国豐米粉店) came back to the house and we get some chit chat about their working life in the shop.

When I online, I saw a Facebook message from Jacky that he is coming to fetch me go to apply local phone number. I get myself prepared and ready to go out for it. 

Finally I get my Taiwan phone number by paying $300NT and inside got $300 to call and text people.

After done it, Jacky fetched me to night market nearby Qing Hua University (清大夜市-清夜) to buy some food for my dinner. We went back to house and later on another trainee (it's my University friend - Swee Hun), Andy (another AIESECer in CTLC - VP Finance 11/12 and also a project PIC)  and Monica (my TN manager-思瑜 ) had came to the house. We had some chit chat and briefly introduction as I first time met my TN manager physically. 

She told me something need to take note and take care and also ask me about the life here for these few days. After the talked, Monica and Andy have to leave for doing some stuffs.

After they leave, others trainee came back (Nick, Jes, Terrance, Vagiz, Celine, Chau, Wynlim) who doing projects that under CTLC. (Orphanage project, Meatball & Rice Noodle project, Farming project and Global Impact project) We briefly introduce ourselves and then I brought Swee Hun to have a dinner and walked around nearby place.

There is the day and tomorrow will be walking Hsinchu City and pay a visit to Hsinchu famous places..=)

  

1st Day Work and Walk Around

Today, 8.30am Jacky ( Yuan Chieh- 元杰), one of the PIC AIESEC member for my project fetch me to TN place - a factory- 玉桂米粉工厂 which located at Hsinchu City Xin Xiang Street(新竹市新香街50巷 39之8). There is first time I sat motor bike in Taiwan and the wind is so big! XD

The factory is very busy as they started their work already and we are abit late as we lost the way in the middle. We reached there around 10am and the TN's wife(Mrs Guo) had briefly introduced me the progress to do rice vermicelli(that day do the rice vermicelli called 水粉 or we called it 米粉).

The factory have produce 2 type of rice vermicelli which are 水粉/米粉 and 濕炊粉 (this type of rice vermicelli is produce when the shop need and mostly everyday need it as it's quite demanding from the stalls in Hsinchu)

3rd process - cook the rice vermicelli with a big pot that more than 100 Celsius . (super hot)

4th process - after cooked then need to throw cold water  to the rice vermicelli that had done.

Mrs Guo told me that they need to wake up at 4am and get to start to prepare the thing for doing rice vermicelli and also deliver the rice vermicelli to the stalls around Hsinchu city.

5th process  

Around 12pm, Jacky have to fetch me back as he need to return motor bike to his senior. Once get back to Chia Tung University, we went to the canteen in the University and after that I'm going back to have a rest and reallocate the pictures that I took in the factory.

6th process -　make the rice vermicelli dry by the winds in Hsinchu and the  big sun here! (Rice vermicelli in Hsinchu is famous is cause by the winds and big sun)

After rest and around 6pm, Suan Yao came back and she asked me weather want to go to Ching Hua University's (清华大学) night market and I said yes. She brought me there and after that I walked around the night market and there is great that Chiao Tung University and Ching Hua University is link and we walked passed by to go to the night market.

Journey Started!=)

Yeah! It's TODAY - 27th June 2012, 2:40pm, I'm going to my flight and get off to my first journey - TAIWAN!!!=)


This journey is what i want and urge for since I joined AIESEC. And now I gonna redeem my promised go for Exchange~! I had joined the short term internship (Global Community Development Programme- GCDP) after my term as VPFA11/12.

~Get into the plane~

I'm excited and also worrying as this is the first time i go out of Malaysia by myself even though I had been Taiwan once time. When I arrived Taoyuan Aiport, it's took me 1 hour to check in and I was worrying is that still have people waiting me as there is long time since i arrived.


Luckily there is still people waiting me called Ting Ting, an AIESECer and coming term TM manager. She is nice as she introduced me lots of culture in Hsinchu city. She brought me to Chiao Tung Universitiy(CTLC) by changing 3 times transport which are Bus-> Train->Bus.


She brought me to the university and let me to stay in the hostel with 2 roommates. One of the roommate(Suan Yao) is AIESECer as well and another roommate(珮儀) is the university student. Both of them are very friendly and really thanks to Suan Yao that brought me to 清华大学夜市~=)
